Western Australians have a proud history of being names Australian of the Year across the four categories, and in this 60th anniversary year of the awards, we hope to have at least one more. Nominations are now open.

This week we are highlighting one of our corporate partners StudyPerth and the work of WA 2020 Local Hero Finalist, Julian Pace. The two have teamed up to support the mental health and wellbeing of International Students via a new online webinar series called The Happiness Corner.

Auspire showed its support throughout this very important week by developing and delivering a number of initiatives around this year’s theme, In this together.

Over a 45 minute ‘lunch break’ session our four highly respected Aboriginal Community Leaders discussed the theme of ‘In This Together’, and shared stories, thoughts and ideals on what Reconciliation, Culture, Understanding and Acknowledgement means to them, which was followed by a group discussion and Q&A session.

In recent months as this pandemic has placed all nations around the world into a new state of existence, Australians have demonstrated great leadership, evidenced by our nation’s response and containment of Covid-19.

Independent Research commissioned by the National Australia Day Council was conducted in early February with more than 1,100 Australians 15 years and over and confirmed strong support for Australia Day as it becomes more socially and culturally inclusive.

20 Ambassadors from our Inspiring Australians Network were involved in community celebrations of all sizes, including wonderful recognition to Aboriginal culture through to smaller and more intimate citizenship ceremonies at Local Government Councils.

Auspire was delighted to join the Prime Minister, The Hon Scott Morrison MP, at the National Arboretum in Canberra on the 25th January as he presented the 2020 Australian of the Year Awards.

The Inspiring Australians – Australia Day Launch 2020 allowed us to take a moment to reflect upon and acknowledge the truth of our history as an important part of our journey towards reconciliation and to ensure all Australians feel a sense of belonging on our National Day.

Auspire encourages all who come together at Skyworks on Australia Day 2020 to donate to the appeal, announced by the Premier, in support of those who have lost so much and have a long road ahead to rebuild their lives as a result of the recent bushfires.
