New Director Appointed to the National Australia Day Council Board
The National Australia Day Council this week announced the appointment of Ms Alison Page as its newest Director of the National Australia Day Council (NADC) Board. Ms Page’s term is for 4 years until 31 March 2024.
Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Hon Ben Morton MP said Ms Page has a strong and diverse background and will bring significant skills and experience to the Board.
“The National Australia Day Council is responsible for coordinating the celebration of Australia Day nationally and for the Australian of the Year Awards,” Assistant Minister Morton said.
“Ms Page’s background and acclaimed experience, will make a unique contribution to the work of the NADC and Australia Day – a day when all Australians can come together to reflect, respect and celebrate because we’re all part of the story of Australia.”
A descendant of the Walbanga and Wadi Wadi people of the Yuin nation, and an expert storyteller, Ms Page has worked with various urban and rural Aboriginal communities in the delivery projects that include public art, installations and film. These include ‘The Message’ for the National Museum of Australia’s current Endeavour Voyage exhibition and ‘The Eyes of the Land and the Sea’ at Kamay, bringing together different perspectives of Australians shared history.
Ms Page is a member of the Council of the Australian National Maritime Museum, Chairperson of the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence and a member of the Senior Advisory Group for Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
Ms Page is the Managing Director of creative agency Zakpage and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has previously served on the Expert Panel for Constitutional Recognition of Indigenous Peoples, Museums and Galleries NSW and as a Director of the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation.
Many will be familiar Ms Page from her eight years as a regular panelist on the ABC’s The New Inventors.
