Aboriginal Cultural Awareness and Knowledge sessions are a highly sought-after initiative offered by Auspire to build social and cultural inclusion.

The 2020 WA Australian of the Year Awards have been announced in a ceremony at Government House in Perth on 7 November 2019. The four WA recipients will join those from the other states and territories for the national awards ceremony at the National Arboretum in Canberra on 25 January 2020 – the 60th anniversary of the awards.

Discussions of Ms Buttrose high-profile position as Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, as well as her various organisations and causes which she generously donates her time to such as National Ambassador of Dementia Australia, Patron of the Macular Disease Foundation, Emeritus Director Arthritis Australia and Ambassador for Breast Cancer Network Australia.

2019 has been a busy year and we are excited to announce that across Australia, there are now over 740 schools participating in our grass-roots school-based Program, reaching almost 260,000 students.

To coincide with Australian Citizenship Day, South Newman Primary School and Auspire hosted Their Excellencies, The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley to officiate over a Citizenship Ceremony for 18 new Aussies and help launch Aussie of the Month, as the school acknowledged their first Aussie of the Month recipient.

Auspire is currently seeking to fill a volunteer board  support role of Board Secretariat. We are keen to hear from those who wish to become involved.

To celebrate the launch of the 60th Anniversary of the Australian of the Year Awards in 2020, Auspire – Australia Day Council WA will host an Inspiring Australians Celebrating 60 Years event, featuring Ms Ita Buttrose, AC OBE.

The Fathering Project’s vision is for every child in Australia to have an effective father figure. Since its inception and more recently since Prof Robinson’s was put into the spotlight as WA’s 2014 Australian of the Year, the program has gone from strength to strength, expanding across Australia and to six different countries with incredible results.

Mr F. Mallard, Yamatji man, was awarded the WA 2019 Senior Citizen of the Year for his long awaited recognition as an army veteran and his advocacy work to obtain recognition for his service.

Aboriginal Cultural Awareness and Knowledge training is a new initiative now being offered by Auspire and directly supports its strategy to build social and cultural inclusion so that all Australians feel a deeper sense of belonging
