  • 28 October 2019

Launching the 60th Anniversary of the Australian of the Year Awards in 2020, Auspire – Australia Day Council WA held their first event, Inspiring Australians, Celebrating 60 Years, featuring Ms Ita Buttrose, AC OBE.

A sell out audience filled the State Reception Centre, Kings Park and were captivated by Ita as she allowed us a glimpse into her life’s work in giving back to the community.

Balancing her high-profile position as Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Ita also donates her time to several charitable roles including National Ambassador of Dementia Australia, Patron of the Macular Disease Foundation, Emeritus Director Arthritis Australia and Ambassador for Breast Cancer Network Australia however she assured us that whilst she has trouble saying no to new opportunities, she still finds time to fulfil her other personal needs such as visiting the Ballet and  Opera as well as spending time with her Grandchildren and Gardening.

Emcee Meri Fatin expertly guided the morning including hosting a fascinating Q & A session which delved deeper into Ita’s personal and professional life as audience questions came thick and fast.

The event was proudly supported by Bethanie, Western Australia’s leading aged care provider for seniors seeking to live well and retire into a welcoming and engaging community.

Auspire also took the opportunity to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with Pink Ladies standing proud on each table, raising awareness of the valuable and ongoing work in breast cancer research undertaken by Breast Cancer Network Australia.
