Launching of Australia Day 2021 – We are all part of the story

  • 21 January 2021

January 21st marked the official launch of Australia Day 2021, with a celebratory event for the WA Australian of the Year finalists at Perth’s newest iconic location, The WA Museum Boorla Bardip.

With attendance of over 200 guests plus members of the public, it was the first opportunity to gather the WA 2021 Australian of the Year Award recipients together to help kick off Australia Day events throughout Western Australia.

Auspire Patron, the Honourable Kim Beazley, Governor of Western Australia, who has been strong advocate of the 2021 message of Reflect Respect Celebrate; delivered his Australia Day Address and the Honourable Ken Wyatt, Federal Member for Hasluck and Minister for Indigenous Australians offered the closing remarks.

“Today’s launch is a step toward unifying all communities to embrace the new national narrative, Reflect, Respect, Celebrate  –  we are all a part of the story, which is about working towards creating a more inclusive Australia Day.” said Bradley Woods, Auspire Chairman.

The event was opened with a Welcome to Country and cultural performance by the Bindjareb Middars and Theo Kearing who spoke in language and translated into English.

This event was also a wonderful opportunity to recognise Chevron Australia’s involvement as National Diversity and Inclusion Partner for the Australia of the Year Awards, whose support has been unwavering not only here in WA, but also on the national stage. Other themes that emerged included the year of Covid19 and the role our frontline first responders played in keeping us all safe.

“As we reflect on the immense challenges Australia has faced last year, let’s use Australia Day to come together to reflect, respect and celebrate the individual and collective efforts of Australians, particularly our front line health workers, emergency responders and teachers, who gave so much to keep our country going these last 12 months” said Morgen Lewis, Auspire CEO.
