Community Citizen of the Year Awards 2022

  • 27 January 2022

More than 260 Awards were presented to individuals and groups across WA on Australia Day 2022.

A record number of nominations were submitted, with more than 820 entries. Despite WA seemingly more ‘business-as-usual’ compared to many other parts of the world in 2021, it appears acknowledging positive community contribution was still high in importance.

Notably, three WA 2022 Australian of the Year recipients were recognised as Community Citizens of the Year: Janice Standen as City of Joondalup’s Senior Community Citizen of the Year; Craig Hollywood as City of Perth’s Community Citizen of the Year; and Kendall Whyte’s Blue Tree Project as Shire of Lake Grace’s Active Citizenship Award.

The purpose of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards is not just to celebrate outstanding contribution, but to inspire others to contribute so that they can be an even more impactful part of the story.

Thank you to the support of the participating Councils in delivering this program and of Channel 9 Perth, 6PR 882 and WAToday in helping us spread the word.
