Auspire’s Multicultural Leadership Program continues to support aspiring multicultural leaders
Throughout 2023, Auspire – Australia Day Council WA has assisted 16 Western Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds along their leadership journeys, through fully-funded scholarship placements on the Multicultural Leadership Program.
After a successful first year, the program returned with continued support from the Office of Multicultural Interests and guidance from Auspire’s Multicultural Advisory Group.
The 16 successful participants were selected from almost 100 applications from people whose stories started all over the world. They went on to experience unique special networking events and workshops, including meeting 2023 Australian of the Year, Taryn Brumfitt, at an Auspire Inspiring Australians Breakfast event; the Australia Day 2023 Launch at Government House; Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training; and a workshop on the Benefits of Cultural Diversity in leadership.
Exclusive to the program is the opportunity to attend round table sessions with members from Auspire’s Inspiring Australians Network, including 2019 Australian of the Year, Dr Craig Challen OAM; 2023 WA Senior Australian of the Year, Theresa Kwok; Auspire Ambassador and Community Citizen of the Year, Dr Sandy Chong; and Auspire Ambassador, Nilesh Makwana.
Most recently, participants were invited to attend the WA Awards Ceremony of the 2024 Australian of the Year Awards, and will conclude their scholarship with a graduation later this month.
