Auspire forms Multicultural Advisory Group

  • 21 March 2022

Auspire – Australia Day Council WA has brought together a group of highly regarded industry professionals to form its inaugural Multicultural Advisory Group.

Each member has been appointed for their insight into the multicultural space across several different culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities, and will be engaged for advice on cultural histories, protocols, sensitivities and priorities for the delivery of Auspire’s Civics, Citizenship and CaLD Leadership initiatives.

After several years working alongside the Office of Multicultural Interests delivering programs and initiatives designed to support and inspire migrants to participate and engage in their Australian citizenship, it made sense to have a group of advisors who are well placed to guide and inform the next stage of Auspire and OMI’s partnership. In particular, Auspire’s soon-to-be-launched Multicultural Leadership Program, which aims to provide opportunities to aspiring multicultural leaders to further their leadership goals.

The inaugural members of the Multicultural Advisory Group are:

Henrietta Podgorska, Senior Manager Communications and Community Engagement at Umbrella Community Care

Iqbal Samnakay, Strategy Manager at Department of Water and Environmental Regulation

Chui Lin Chong, Marketing Manager of Bridge42 Pty Ltd

Hosam Achrafi, Fortescue Future Industries

Rashmi Watel, founder of Confident Speakers Academy

“Each of our new Multicultural advisors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table that will help us to improve and elevate our programs for people from CaLD communities,” said Auspire CEO, Morgen Lewis.

Jacqui Swingler, Community Development Officer at Auspire, who leads the work in the civics, citizenship and CaLD leadership space, is especially pleased to be officially launching this group. “The creation of a multicultural advisory is a natural extension of the already successful co-design approach Auspire and OMI have been using to date for the development of our Multicultural Leadership Program, and we are really looking forward to the group’s input and insights.” she said.
