Understanding Civics and Citizenship
To assist those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, we deliver Understanding Civics and Citizenship community workshops.

Overview
Today one in three Western Australians are born overseas. WA is home to people from more than 190 countries, speaking approximately 270 languages and dialects including around 50 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages making WA one of the country’s most diverse and multicultural societies in Australia.
When people come to Australia they come for a a better life, but often as a new Australian, there are huge challenges including English as a second language, cultural barriers, lack of recognition of overseas qualifications and lack of work experience to name a few.
Even feeling a sense of belonging to a new community is a challenge, often just simply understanding the Australian way can be of huge advantage.
To assist those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Auspire delivers Understanding Civics and Citizenship Masterclasses and Leaders in Citizenship Forums.
Benefits for attendees include understanding what we mean by active citizenship, how community participation and contribution to public life can create strength in communities and gaining confidence in being a part of the fabric of our community.
In addition, the sessions provide the opportunity to understand our three levels of Government, the electoral process; how to make your vote count and peoples’ rights and responsibilities as citizens of Australia.
