Australia Day 2022 launch inspires us to Reflect Respect Celebrate
Australia Day 2022 was officially launched in Western Australia this morning with a ceremony at Beaumonde on the Point, hosted by City of Perth.
Nearly 200 invited guests, including 2022 WA Australian of the Year recipients, Australia Day Ambassadors and Members of Parliament, gathered to take the opportunity to Reflect, Respect, Celebrate.
Australia Day Ambassador and Emcee for the event, Tracy Vo, introduced Dr Richard Walley OAM, to deliver a captivating Welcome to Country, alongside a beautiful performance from the Ngalak Nidja dance group.
Minister Ben Morton MP then took to the stage to speak, followed by Auspire Patron, the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia, to give his Australia Day Address, which was both humorous and inspiring.
City of Perth Lord Mayor, Basil Zempilas, gave the closing remarks.
The presence of 2021 WA Senior Australian of the Year, Dr Richard Walley, was made even more poignant as guests celebrated the 2022 WA Australian of the Year Awards recipients prior to the national announcement on Tuesday 25th January.
“Today’s launch encourages every single one of us to Reflect Respect and Celebrate this Australia Day,” said Auspire Chairman, Bradley Woods. “To see such diversity in people who contribute to our national identity come together, demonstrates that we are all part of the story. I hope this inspires everyone in WA to celebrate Australia Day with a sense of belonging and inclusion.”
