Volunteers and grass roots groups recognised in 2025 Community Citizen of the Year Awards

Rotary Club members, emergency services volunteer groups, and people who promote inclusion and togetherness, have been recognised in the 2025 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Nearly 240 individuals, groups and events are being celebrated for their local impact, with many Awards’ ceremonies held on Australia Day in conjunction with citizenship ceremonies and community events.

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards seek to recognise active citizens who contribute to improving local communities. Recipients for the 2025 Awards were selected from more than 870 nominations.

Shire of Ashburton President, Audra Smith, said of the Awards: “It’s these individuals and groups whose dedication and passion breathe life into our communities, shaping them into vibrant hubs of activity and camaraderie.

“Their tireless efforts not only enhance the foundation of our towns, but also inspire others to join in and make difference. The Citizen of the Year Awards serve as a beacon of appreciation for their invaluable contributions.”

Auspire – Australia Day Council WA has been delivering the Community Citizen of the Year Awards for more than 20 years in partnership with local councils in WA. The 2025 Awards are supported by Principal Partner, the Department of Communities, and Media Partners, 9News Perth, 6PR Perth and WAtoday.
