Australia’s Local Hero, Mr WooTube inspires kids with Maths.

  • 2 July 2018

On Wednesday 27 June 2018, over 700 students and teachers from various schools around Western Australia came to Octagon theatre to attend the ‘Inspiring Australians’ Schools’ Forum organised by the team at Auspire – The Australia Day Council of WA.

Mr Eddie Woo, a maths teacher; an Auspire ambassador; the recipient of Local Hero, was the speaker at the forum and he did an excellent job of inspiring high school students to be aspiring leaders in their schools and communities. He also played some cool maths games like mean boxes, Shikaku and Noughts & Crosses in order to ignite interest of maths in students.

The aim of ‘Inspiring Australians’ Schools’ Forum is to bring together young, future leaders from high schools to challenge and motivate students to be active participants in their community. It provides a platform for students to hear from inspirational Australian community leaders who have been recognised in the Australian of the Year Awards Program.

This event enables our inspirational speakers from within the Inspiring Australians’ Network of Awards Alumni to engage with high school students about the positive outcomes of active citizenship. It assists in setting a leadership agenda for young people and brings attention to matters of community importance.

It was a successful and sold out event and we hope to keep inspiring young Australians to be active citizens.
