Join us to hear from some of WA’s most inspiring leaders on the power of community leadership. This free event is a unique opportunity to connect with members of Auspire’s Inspiring Australians’ Network, who have been recognised for their outstanding contributions and achievements through the Australian of the Year or Community Citizen of the Year Awards. They will share their experiences and offer advice on how to get involved in creating positive change in your community.
The Speakers
Nilesh Makwana
Nilesh is a technology CEO and entrepreneur dedicated to making a social impact through his business and community activities. He has worked to eliminate the digital literacy gap in Indigenous communities throughout Western Australia through free technical training. He is founder of West Tech Assemblage, an event for tech leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators, and with wife Lene co-founded Borderless Gandhi, a non-profit organisation promoting Gandhi’s message of peace, equality and nonviolence.
Vince Garreffa
Since becoming a butcher at the age of 14, Vince has lived a life of service becoming one of Western Australia’s most successful butchers and a major fundraiser. Vince and his volunteers raised more than $1 million for various charities and over $4 million for Lifeline WA over the past 25 years. He supports smaller charities as chair of non-profit Mondo Community Warriors. Vince is an enthusiastic foodie and advocate for Australian farmers, independent butchers and the food and wine industries.
Caroline Wood
Caroline is a not-for-profit director and publisher with 30 years of senior management experience. She is passionate about the art of storytelling and the power of the story to influence and evoke social change. She founded Margaret River Press, in 2010, to nurture authors and produce high-quality publications. In 2015, she founded the Centre for Stories – a literary and community arts organisation using storytelling to improve social cohesion and improve understanding of diverse communities.
