The Awards honour an exceptional and diverse group of highly-respected Australians who ignite discussion and change on issues of national importance. We’re All Part Of The Story.
The National Australia Day Council Board selects the Australians of the Year from a group of 32 State and Territory recipients, each of whom are nominated by the public. The prestigious year-round program culminates in the announcement of the national Award recipients in Canberra on Australia Day Eve.
Nominations for the 2025 Awards close 10pm AWST on 31 July 2024. Until then, we encourage you to share the nominations message on your channels to inspire your networks and audiences to nominate!
Our message is simple – #NominateNow.
All it takes is one nomination to recognise someone doing their part to make Australia the great country it is.
The Australian of the Year Awards recognise individuals from four categories:
- Australian of the Year
- Senior Australian of the Year
- Young Australian of the Year
- Australia’s Local Hero
