National Reconciliation Week Lunch with Leaders

National Reconciliation Week – In This Together

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2020 ‘In this together’, encourages all Australians to reflect on the part they play – whether big or small – on our journey towards reconciliation.

On Wednesday 3rd June, in recognition of National Reconciliation Week our ‘Lunch with Leaders’ event was held, coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of the reconciliation walks of 2000, when people came together to walk on bridges and roads across the nation and show their support for a more reconciled Australia.

The team at Auspire were absolutely thrilled as they witnessed the event become fully booked within 48 hours of announcement, demonstrating the preparedness of Australians to understand not only the spirit of the world’s oldest living culture but also to acknowledge our shared histories and achievements.

Over a 45 minute ‘lunch break’ session our four highly respected Aboriginal Community Leaders discussed the theme of ‘In This Together’, and shared stories, thoughts and ideals on what Reconciliation, Culture, Understanding and Acknowledgement means to them, which was followed by a group discussion and Q&A session. It provided us with a fantastic opportunity to explore ways we can all contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

A special thank you to our panelists Dr Robert Isaacs AM, Dr Rishelle Hume AM, Prof Cheryl Kickett-Tucker, Yarlalu Thomas and our Q & A facilitator Ms Krista Dunstan for making the event such a success.

The session provided a wonderful way to recognise this important week and Auspire feels a great sense of privilege to have welcomed participants not only in WA but across Australia. A strong demonstration of the trust that is placed in Auspire to deliver these important messages.
