SUMMARY:Is our economy working for us? Diversification and a Wellbeing Economy for WA
DESCRIPTION:The UWA Public Policy Institute\, The Next Economy\, and Good Together invite you to a timely and thought-provoking discussion on WA’s economic future. \nAfter decades of prosperity built on WA’s ‘mining state’ model\, this event will offer critical reflection and discussion on economic diversification and the case for a wellbeing economy. \nExplore how WA can decarbonise\, de-risk\, and diversify its economy in ways that go beyond greener mining and exports. What would diversification look like if the wellbeing of people and planet was our ultimate goal? And how can we move from decades of talk to meaningful\, rapid action? \nFeaturing a keynote lecture from Katherine Trebeck\, political economist and founder of the global Wellbeing Economy Alliance\, this event will examine how a wellbeing economy lens can reshape WA’s diversification agenda — unlocking opportunities for fairness\, sustainability\, and resilience. \nRegistration is free but essential here.

SUMMARY:WA Stories Chapter II\, Story 5: Richard Walley
DESCRIPTION:Perth Symphony Orchestra presents WA Stories Chapter II\, Story 5: Richard Walley — a multi-sensory journey into the life of a man whose influence has shaped our state and beyond\, as told by Richard himself. \nDr Richard Walley OAM: Noongar artist\, musician\, statesman\, and WA 2021 Senior Australian of the Year\, is one of Australia’s most revered cultural leaders. \nNow\, for the first time\, his astonishing life story takes centre stage in a spellbinding concert that blends music\, imagery and spoken word. Joined by members of his family and dear friend Iain Grandage\, Richard himself leads audiences through the defining moments of his journey — from the tough realities of growing up ‘bush hard’ in post-war Australia\, to global tours with Middar Aboriginal Theatre\, the creation of the first contemporary Welcome to Country\, and an unwavering commitment to cultural truth-telling and youth leadership. \nSet to the evocative soundtrack of the 1950s and 1960s alongside traditional music\, dance\, original compositions\, and powerful visual storytelling\, this is a unique opportunity to connect with Richard’s legacy through the heart\, the spirit\, and the shared breath of music. \nWA Stories Chapter II\, Story 5: Richard Walley will be held on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September at the WA Museum Boola Bardip. \nBook your tickets here.
