Middleton Beach Festival 2020
The Middleton Beach Festival takes place at Albany’s iconic Middleton Beach and offers an array of opportunities for the community to participate and engage. The program each year commences the week leading up to and includes Australia Day. The week provides a cultural and community experience for the Great Southern population by fostering community spirit, promoting a sense of identity and actively engaging an intergenerational community.
The Middleton Beach Festival will be a non-stop-shop of fun with a variety of activities where we will once again engage with commercial operators to provide them the opportunity to run their business from the Middleton Beach Precinct. The Festival provides diverse participation opportunities for the community, including emerging performers, local organisations and the general public. This inclusion enhances community cohesion and builds a sense of civic pride in Albany
Australia Day as part of the Middleton Beach Festival, is an excellent example of an empowering partnership with community engagement to create an event that adds up to more than the sum of its parts: Big Breakfast hosted by the Rotary Club of Albany; Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards hosted by the City of Albany; and the Festival hosted by the City of Albany which will be a condensed version of the weeklong Festival programmed with activities, workshops, amusements, local food and coffee vendors, music and entertainment. To finish the day off, from sunset the space will transform into an outdoor cinema that will showcase a movie voted by the public.
